The Arabic root و-ل-د (w-l-d) carries the core meaning of biological birth, generation, and parent-child relationships. In the Quran, it appears in various forms denoting parents (wālidayn), children (awlād/walad), fathers (wālid), and the act of begetting or being born (yūlad/yūlid).
