وَقَالَ ٱلرَّسُولُ يَـٰرَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ مَهْجُورًا 30
Translations
And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’ān as [a thing] abandoned."
Transliteration
Wa qala ar-rasulu ya rabbi inna qawmi ittakhazu hadha al-Qur'ana mahjura
Tafsir (Explanation)
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) complains to Allah that his people have abandoned and neglected the Qur'an, failing to recite, study, or act upon its guidance. وَقَالُوا۟ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهْرُ ۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ
And they say, "There is not but our worldly life; we die and live, and nothing destroys us except time." And they have of that no knowledge; they are only assuming.
