Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes how Allah gradually withdrew the sun (mentioned in the previous verse) in an easy manner as it set. Classical scholars like Al-Qurtubi and Ibn Kathir explain this as referring to the gradual disappearance of the sun at sunset, demonstrating Allah's gentle control over creation. The word 'yasira' (easy) emphasizes the smooth, orderly nature of this celestial movement, which serves as a sign of Allah's wisdom and perfect regulation of the cosmos.
Revelation Context
This ayah is part of Surah Al-Furqan, a Meccan chapter that emphasizes Allah's signs (ayat) in creation. The passage discusses the sun and its movement across the sky as evidence of divine power and order. This context reflects the surah's broader theme of presenting clear criteria (furqan) to distinguish truth from falsehood through observable natural phenomena.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allah' (Jami' at-Tirmidhi). Additionally, in Sahih Bukhari, the Prophet emphasized observing the heavenly bodies as reminders of Allah's creative power.
