Transliteration

Wa-anna lamma sami'na al-huda amannah bihi faman yu'minu bi-rabbihi fala yakhaf bakhsan wa la rahqa

Tafsir (Explanation)

The jinn proclaim that upon hearing the guidance (the Qur'an), they believed in it, and whoever believes in their Lord will neither fear diminishment of their reward (bakhsa) nor disgrace or burden (rahqa) on the Day of Judgment. This ayah emphasizes that sincere belief in Allah and His message provides complete spiritual security and protection from divine injustice, as Ibn Kathir notes that bakhsa refers to deprivation of rights and rahqa to the overwhelming burden of sin.

Revelation Context

This ayah is part of Surah Al-Jinn, which describes the jinn's conversion upon hearing the Qur'an recited by the Prophet Muhammad. The surah was revealed in Mecca and documents the jinn's testimony to the truth of the message, illustrating the universal appeal of Islamic guidance beyond humanity to the unseen creation.

Related Hadiths

The hadith in Sahih Muslim from Abu Hurairah: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not fear the injustice of Allah,' which directly supports the concept of security promised to believers in this ayah. Additionally, the hadith about Allah's justice: 'Allah will not oppress anyone by even the weight of an atom' (Sahih Bukhari) reinforces the meaning of bakhsa and rahqa.
