Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the honored position of the righteous in Paradise, sitting in a seat of truth in the presence of an All-Powerful King (Allah). Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi explain that 'maqʿad al-sidq' (seat of truth) represents the highest honor and proximity to Allah, reflecting the believers' reward for their righteous deeds. The phrase 'malik muqtadir' emphasizes Allah's absolute power and sovereignty, making this position of honor a manifestation of His divine justice and mercy.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the final section of Surah Al-Qamar, which is a Meccan surah addressing the certainty of the Day of Judgment and the realities of Paradise and Hell. It concludes a passage describing the ultimate reward for those who believe and obey, serving as a powerful motivation for the early believers facing persecution in Mecca.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'In Paradise, there are things that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has imagined' (Sahih Bukhari). Additionally, 'The greatest blessing in Paradise is the vision of Allah's face' (Sahih Muslim) relates to the proximity to Allah mentioned in this ayah.
