Tafsir (Explanation)
The Prophet Musa is addressing Pharaoh and his people, declaring that they will soon remember his warning when Allah's punishment comes upon them, while he himself entrusts his affairs entirely to Allah, knowing that Allah is watching over all His servants. This ayah emphasizes Musa's steadfast trust in Allah despite facing the most powerful tyrant of his time, and his confidence that the truth will ultimately be vindicated. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir note that this represents the pinnacle of reliance upon Allah (tawakkul) even when facing certain worldly defeat.
Revelation Context
This ayah is part of Surah Ghafir, which recounts the dialogue between Musa and Pharaoh in Egypt. The ayah occurs near the climax of their confrontation when Musa makes his final proclamation before Allah's judgment falls upon Pharaoh and his people, establishing the theme that truth prevails over falsehood regardless of temporal power.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The strong person is not the one who overpowers others, but the strong person is the one who controls himself when angry' (Sahih Bukhari). This complements Musa's response of restraint and reliance on Allah rather than resorting to worldly confrontation.
