Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity."

Udkhulūhā bi-salāmin, dhālika yawmu al-khulūd

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah commands the people of Paradise to enter it with peace and safety, marking the day of eternal abode. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, the word 'salām' (peace) encompasses freedom from fear, sorrow, and all harm, while 'yawm al-khulūd' (the day of eternity) emphasizes the permanent, unending nature of this blessed state. This represents the culmination of the believer's journey and the fulfillment of Allah's promise to those who obeyed Him.

Revelation Context (Asbab al-Nuzul)

This ayah appears in the context of Surah Qaf's description of the Day of Judgment and the final destinies of humanity. It follows the depiction of Paradise's beauty and precedes warnings about Hell, forming part of the Meccan period's emphasis on eschatological themes meant to inspire hope and certainty in the believers facing persecution.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever enters Paradise will enjoy such blessings that he will never wish to leave it' (Sahih Bukhari 3245). Additionally, Surah Al-Ahzab 33:44 complements this theme: 'Their greeting on the Day they meet Him will be 'Peace' (Salām).'

Key Lessons

This ayah offers profound comfort to believers by affirming that obedience to Allah leads to a state of perfect peace and permanence beyond earthly suffering and transience.
