Transliteration

Aflam yanzuroo ilassama'i fawqahum kayfa banaynahā wa zayyannāhā wa mā lahā min furūj

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah calls upon the disbelievers to observe the sky above them as a sign of Allah's power and wisdom, noting its construction and beautification without any cracks or fissures. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir explain that the absence of 'furūj' (gaps/crevices) in the heavens demonstrates the perfection of Allah's creation and serves as an evidence of His existence and oneness, challenging those who deny the resurrection and divine judgment. Al-Qurtubi emphasizes that the heavens' stability despite their vast expanse is a miracle that should inspire contemplation of the Creator's might.

Revelation Context

Surah Qaf is a Meccan surah primarily concerned with refuting disbelief and affirming the reality of the Day of Judgment. This ayah appears within a broader context of ayahs presenting the natural universe as clear signs (āyāt) of Allah's existence and power, addressing the Meccan polytheists' denial of resurrection.
