Tafsir (Explanation)
Allah addresses the Children of Israel, reminding them of His favors: their salvation from Pharaoh and his army, His promise to meet them at the right side of Mount Tur (Sinai) where the Torah would be given, and His provision of manna and quail during their wilderness journey. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this ayah emphasizes the succession of divine blessings upon Bani Israel as evidence of Allah's care and their obligation to obedience, while also serving as a rebuke for those among them who later forgot these mercies.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in Surah Ta-Ha, a Meccan surah revealed to console the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during early persecution in Mecca. The surah contextualizes the story of Musa (Moses) and Bani Israel's trials and Allah's deliverance, drawing parallels to the early Muslim community's struggles and divine support. The ayah specifically recalls the post-exodus period when Allah provided sustenance and prepared them to receive the Torah.
Related Hadiths
Sahih Bukhari (3461) narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said regarding manna and quail: 'The manna and quail were provided to the Children of Israel.' Additionally, Muslim traditions emphasize the manna as a sign of Allah's provision, mentioned in various hadiths about divine sustenance and miracles.
