Cognitive dissonance and self-deception in rejecting truth

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ يُؤْفَكُونَ

And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?
