Pattern of human disobedience across generations

وَعَادًا وَثَمُودَا۟ وَأَصْحَـٰبَ ٱلرَّسِّ وَقُرُونًۢا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ كَثِيرًا

And [We destroyed] ʿAad and Thamūd and the companions of the well and many generations between them.
