The Arabic root س-ر-د (s-r-d) fundamentally conveys the concept of arranging things in succession, linking them together, or making them flow in continuous sequence. In the Quran, it appears in Surah Saba (34:11) where Allah instructs Prophet Dawud to make full coats of mail (سَابِغَاتٍ) and to measure properly in the interweaving/linking of the armor's rings (وَقَدِّرْ فِي السَّرْدِ), emphasizing precision in craftsmanship.
