Description

The Arabic root ش-ف-ه (sh-f-h) relates to the lips or edges of something, deriving from the basic meaning of the border or rim. In the Quran, it appears in Surah Al-Balad (90:9) where Allah mentions creating for humans two lips (shafatayn) as part of enumerating His blessings and the faculties He has bestowed upon mankind.
