وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رَّسُولٍ إِلَّا نُوحِىٓ إِلَيْهِ أَنَّهُۥ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا۠ فَٱعْبُدُونِ 25
Translations
And We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
Transliteration
Wa mā arsalnā min qablika min rasūlin illā nūḥiya ilayhi annahu lā ilāha illā anā fa'budūn
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah establishes the fundamental unity of the message of all prophets throughout history—that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone. Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari emphasize that despite differences in laws (sharī'ah) and practices among the prophets, the core message of Tawhīd (monotheism) remained constant and unchanging. The verse affirms that Prophet Muhammad's message of pure monotheism is not novel but rather the continuation of the same divine call that was revealed to all previous messengers.

But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
قُلْ إِنَّمَآ أُنذِرُكُم بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ وَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلدُّعَآءَ إِذَا مَا يُنذَرُونَ
Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَقُلْ ءَاذَنتُكُمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍ ۖ وَإِنْ أَدْرِىٓ أَقَرِيبٌ أَم بَعِيدٌ مَّا تُوعَدُونَ
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.
