Translations

A Messenger from Allāh, reciting purified scriptures

Transliteration

Rasoolun min-Allahi yatlu suhufan mutahharah

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah refers to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a messenger from Allah who recites purified scriptures—the Qur'an. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari interpret 'suhufan mutahharah' (purified pages/scriptures) as referring to the Qur'an itself, which is preserved from corruption and distortion, emphasizing its divine origin and the Prophet's role as its faithful transmitter to humanity.

Revelation Context

Surah Al-Bayyinah is a Medinan chapter that addresses those who disbelieved among the People of the Book and idolaters, calling them to recognize the clear proof (bayyinah) that has come to them. This ayah establishes the Prophet Muhammad as the bearer of this clear proof through the purified revelation of the Qur'an, countering claims of previous scriptural corruption.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said in Sahih Bukhari: 'The best among you are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it,' emphasizing the sacred nature of transmitting the purified words of Allah. Additionally, in Tirmidhi, it is narrated that the Qur'an is described as 'the rope of Allah'—strong, clear, and preserving guidance.
