Tafsir (Explanation)
On the Day of Judgment, humanity will be presented before Allah in a state where nothing about them can remain hidden—neither their deeds, intentions, nor secrets. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi explain that 'khafiyah' (hidden things) encompasses all concealed actions and thoughts, emphasizing Allah's complete knowledge and the absolute transparency of that day. This ayah conveys that the pretenses and concealments of this life will be stripped away, and every soul will face its full reality before the Divine.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears within Surah Al-Haqqah, a Meccan chapter focused on the certainty of the Day of Judgment and its overwhelming realities. It is part of a broader thematic context describing the scenes and conditions of the Last Day, reinforcing the Quranic message that judgment is inevitable and inescapable.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'The most beloved deed to Allah is to believe in Allah and His Messenger, and then to speak the truth' (Sahih Bukhari 10). Additionally, 'Actions are judged by intentions' (Sahih Bukhari 1) relates to the Quranic principle that hidden intentions will be revealed on the Day of Judgment.
