قَالَ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَىَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌ 41
Translations
[Allāh] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.
Transliteration
Qala hatha siratin alayya mustaqeem
Tafsir (Explanation)
Allah responds to Iblis's request for respite by affirming that the path of monotheism and obedience to Him is straight and clear. Whatever Allāh grants to people of mercy - none can withhold it; and whatever He withholds - none can release it thereafter. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
ءَأَنتُمْ أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ
Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?
ءَأَتَّخِذُ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً إِن يُرِدْنِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ بِضُرٍّ لَّا تُغْنِ عَنِّى شَفَـٰعَتُهُمْ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يُنقِذُونِ
Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?
