Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah affirms that the seven heavens, the earth, and all creatures within them glorify Allah and praise Him, though humans cannot perceive or understand this glorification. Ibn Kathir explains that all creation engages in tasbih (glorification) through their very existence and obedience to divine laws, while Al-Qurtubi emphasizes that this glorification occurs in ways beyond human comprehension, reflecting the wisdom and order inherent in creation. The ayah concludes by describing Allah as Halim (forbearing) and Ghafur (forgiving), highlighting His patience with humanity despite our ignorance of the creation's praise.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in Surah Al-Isra (a Meccan surah), which was revealed during the Meccan period and focuses on themes of divine supremacy, the night journey (Isra), and Allah's sovereignty over all creation. The ayah's thematic context emphasizes the universality of worship and obedience to Allah throughout the cosmos, serving as evidence of monotheism and divine power.
