Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah affirms that Allah's help, support, and protection are with those who practice taqwa (God-consciousness and piety) and those who excel in their deeds (ihsan). According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, this divine companionship is not merely literal presence but rather Allah's mercy, guidance, and assistance granted to the righteous. The ayah combines both fear of Allah (taqwa) and beautification of actions (ihsan) as the conditions for receiving Allah's support.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears at the conclusion of Surah An-Nahl, which addresses various aspects of divine signs and guidance. It serves as a reassuring conclusion to the surah's teachings about submission to Allah and adherence to His commandments. The placement at the end emphasizes that steadfastness in piety and righteous conduct guarantees divine support and companionship.
