Transliteration
Wa lahu man fi as-samawati wa al-ardi, kullun lahu qanirun
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah affirms that everything in the heavens and earth belongs to Allah alone, and all creation submits to His will in obedience (qanit). According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, this verse emphasizes Allah's absolute ownership and sovereignty over all existence, with qanit (قانتون) denoting willing submission and devoted obedience to His divine authority. The ayah serves as a powerful reminder that regardless of human claims of ownership or independence, all beings are ultimately subject to Allah's dominion.
Revelation Context
Surah Ar-Rum was revealed in Mecca during a period of intense opposition to the Prophet Muhammad. This ayah appears within a passage (30:20-35) that emphasizes Allah's creative power and absolute dominion, presented as evidence against polytheism and idolatry. The broader context addresses the futility of associating partners with Allah when He alone controls all of creation.
Related Hadiths
The concept is reinforced in Sahih Bukhari (Hadith 4725) where the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'The most truthful word spoken by a poet is Labid's verse: "Indeed everything other than Allah is false."' This hadith aligns with the ayah's message of Allah's exclusive reality and dominion.

In practical terms, it encourages believers to align their hearts and actions with divine will, knowing that this obedience reflects the natural order established by the Creator.
