Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah refers to how Allah inherited the lands and possessions of Pharaoh and his people to the Children of Israel after their exodus from Egypt. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari explain that this inheritance included the treasures, buildings, and fertile lands of Egypt that the Israelites came to occupy and benefit from. The phrase emphasizes Allah's power to transfer wealth and dominion from the oppressors to the oppressed as a manifestation of divine justice and mercy.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears within the context of Surah Ash-Shu'ara, which recounts stories of various prophets and their peoples. Specifically, it follows the narrative of Musa (Moses) and the liberation of the Israelites from Pharaonic oppression, highlighting the material rewards and blessings that followed their deliverance as a sign of Allah's favor and fulfillment of His promises.

Related Hadiths

While no specific hadith directly quotes this ayah, Sahih Bukhari contains numerous ahadith about the Children of Israel inheriting the lands of Egypt, and Muslim scholars frequently reference the historical event described here as substantiation of Allah's promises to the believers.
