Transliteration

Wa yawma yuhsharu a'daa'u Allahi ila al-nari fahum yuzaa'un

Tafsir (Explanation)

On the Day of Resurrection, the enemies of Allah will be gathered toward the Fire, and they will be arranged or driven in groups (yuza'un). Classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir explain that 'yuza'un' means they will be driven forward in successive groups or ranks toward Hellfire, with each group prevented from rushing ahead before the others, creating an organized procession of the doomed. This ayah emphasizes both the collective judgment of Allah's enemies and the deliberate, orderly nature of divine justice, ensuring none escape the consequence of their enmity toward Allah.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Fussilat, a Meccan chapter that extensively details the scenes of the Day of Judgment and the fate of believers and disbelievers. The broader context of 41:19-24 describes how disbelievers will be brought to Hell while their hearing, sight, and skin will testify against them, reinforcing themes of accountability and inescapable justice central to Meccan revelation.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The people will be gathered on the Day of Judgment barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised' (Sahih Bukhari 3435). Additionally, 'When the people of Hell enter Hell, they will be brought in groups' relates to the organized gathering mentioned in this ayah (Sunan Ibn Majah).

Key Lesson

This ayah reminds believers that opposition to Allah's truth will inevitably lead to severe consequences, while the orderly nature of their gathering emphasizes that Allah's justice is precise and inescapable. It should motivate believers to examine their relationship with Allah and ensure they do not become among those driven toward punishment through denial and hostility toward divine guidance.
