Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the blowing of the trumpet (Sūr), which is the signal for the Day of Judgment to commence. According to classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, this refers to Israfīl blowing into the trumpet, an event that will shake the heavens and earth and resurrect all souls. The phrase 'that is the Day of the Promise' (yawmu al-wa'īd) refers to the Day of Judgment—the promised day of reckoning that Allah has warned humanity about throughout the ages.
