لَّا تَرَىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَآ أَمْتًا 107
Translations
You will not see therein a depression or an elevation."
Transliteration
Lā tarā fīhā 'iwajan wa lā ammtā
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the perfect flatness and smoothness of the earth on the Day of Judgment, when all mountains will be leveled and the terrain will be completely even. Classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir explain that 'iwaj (crookedness) and 'amtt (unevenness/hollows) will be entirely absent, reflecting the complete transformation of creation. وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَتِرُونَ أَن يَشْهَدَ عَلَيْكُمْ سَمْعُكُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَـٰرُكُمْ وَلَا جُلُودُكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن ظَنَنتُمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَعْلَمُ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ
And you were not covering [i.e., protecting] yourselves, lest your hearing testify against you or your sight or your skins, but you assumed that Allāh does not know much of what you do.
