Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah is part of Allah's address to Adam in Paradise, assuring him that in Jannah (Paradise) he will neither hunger nor go naked. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this verse emphasizes the complete comfort and security that awaits the believers in Paradise, where all physical needs and desires are eternally fulfilled without struggle or deprivation. The promise encompasses both sustenance and clothing as fundamental aspects of human dignity and well-being.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the context of Surah Taha's narrative about Adam's creation and his life in Paradise. It follows Allah's command to Adam and Eve not to approach a certain tree, and reflects the Quranic theme of divine generosity toward humanity. The surah, revealed in Mecca during the early period of Islam, uses Adam's story to illustrate divine mercy and the consequences of disobedience.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentioned in various narrations (including in Sahih Muslim) descriptions of Paradise where inhabitants will have all their needs met abundantly. Additionally, hadith literature emphasizes the concept of rizq (sustenance) being predetermined by Allah, which complements this ayah's guarantee.
