Al-A'raf (The Heights) · Ayah 168

وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ أُمَمًا ۖ مِّنْهُمُ ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ ۖ وَبَلَوْنَـٰهُم بِٱلْحَسَنَـٰتِ وَٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ 168

And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience].

وَقَطَّعْنَـٰهُمْwaqaṭṭaʿnāhumAnd We divided them

قطعq-t-'verb

فِىfīin

ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth

أرضa-r-dnoun

أُمَمًۭا ۖumaman(as) nations

أممa-m-mnoun

مِّنْهُمُmin'humuAmong them

noun

ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَl-ṣāliḥūna(are) the righteous

صلحs-l-hnoun

وَمِنْهُمْwamin'humand among them
