Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah describes the inhabitants of Paradise reclining upon thrones, experiencing neither the scorching heat of the sun nor the bitter cold of winter. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir explain that 'zamharīr' (extreme cold) refers to the harsh winter wind, emphasizing that the people of Jannah will be shielded from all physical discomfort and hardship. The mention of these two extremes represents relief from all forms of earthly suffering, symbolizing perfect comfort and eternal ease in Paradise.

Revelation Context

Surah Al-Insan (Chapter 76) is a Medinan surah revealed to describe the rewards awaiting the righteous. This particular ayah is part of an extended description (verses 11-22) of the blessings of Paradise, designed to motivate the believers toward piety and patient obedience. The context emphasizes that those who avoid temptation and maintain their faith will receive unparalleled comfort in the Hereafter.

Related Hadiths

In Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, it is narrated that the Prophet said, 'The people of Paradise will not feel fatigue in their bodies, nor will they feel sorrow.'
