Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah refers to the reward granted to the inhabitants of Paradise, affirming that their eternal bliss is the just recompense for their righteous deeds in this world. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi emphasize that Allah acknowledges and appreciates the efforts of the believers, promising that no deed goes unrecognized—their striving (saʿy) in obedience will be fully rewarded and honored in the Hereafter.
Revelation Context
Surah Al-Insan (Chapter 76) is a Medinan surah that primarily describes the states of the righteous in Paradise versus the fate of the disbelievers. This particular ayah appears near the end of the surah and contextualizes the preceding descriptions of Paradise as the fitting reward for those whose efforts and intentions were sincere and pleasing to Allah.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'The best of you are those who are best to their families, and I am the best among you to my family' (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3895), reflecting the theme that righteous conduct earns divine appreciation. Additionally, 'Actions are judged by intentions' (Sahih Bukhari 1) underscores that sincere effort (saʿy) is the basis of reward.
