وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا 12

Translations

And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.

Transliteration

wa-yasla sa'eeran

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah describes the punishment of the disbeliever who will enter and burn in the blazing fire (sa'eer). According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this refers to those who rejected faith and turned away from the signs of Allah, emphasizing that their ultimate destination is Hellfire as a consequence of their willful denial. The verb 'yasla' (will enter/burn) conveys both the action of entering the fire and the continuous suffering within it.

Revelation Context

Surah Al-Inshiqaq is a Meccan surah that focuses on the certainty of the Day of Judgment and the divine reckoning. This ayah appears in the latter portion of the surah (verses 7-15) which specifically contrasts the fates of the righteous believer with the disbeliever, establishing the themes of accountability and consequences in the Hereafter.

Related Hadiths

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The fire of the people of this world is one-seventieth of the fire of Hell,' (Sahih Bukhari, Book of Tawhid). Additionally, the hadith in Sahih Muslim regarding the vastness of Hellfire emphasizes the reality of this punishment described in the Quran.
