قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ 1
Translations
Certainly will the believers have succeeded:
Transliteration
Qad aflaha al-mu'minun
Tafsir (Explanation)
This opening ayah of Surah Al-Mu'minun declares that the believers have indeed succeeded and prospered in both this world and the Hereafter. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi, the word 'aflaha' (succeeded) encompasses spiritual prosperity, divine favor, and ultimate salvation. ثُمَّ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا تَتْرَا ۖ كُلَّ مَا جَآءَ أُمَّةً رَّسُولُهَا كَذَّبُوهُ ۚ فَأَتْبَعْنَا بَعْضَهُم بَعْضًا وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ ۚ فَبُعْدًا لِّقَوْمٍ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ
Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe.
وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ
And they who turn away from ill speech
حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ أَحَدَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ٱرْجِعُونِ
[For such is the state of the disbelievers] until, when death comes to one of them, he says, "My Lord, send me back
