Tafsir (Explanation)
The inhabitants of Paradise will be given to drink from a sealed wine (rahiq) that is pure and unadulterated, with a sealed vessel signifying its purity and excellence. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi explain that this drink surpasses worldly wine in every way—it causes no intoxication, headache, or illness, and its seal indicates it has been preserved in perfect condition. This ayah emphasizes the supreme quality and blessing of the rewards of the righteous in the afterlife.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the latter portion of Surah Al-Mutaffifin, which is a Meccan surah addressing those who cheat in weights and measures. The context here describes the fate of the righteous believers in contrast to the doom of the defrauders, providing motivation for honest conduct and moral behavior in this life by emphasizing the eternal rewards awaiting the faithful.
