Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes how Allah returned Prophet Musa to his mother Asiyah after he was placed in the river, fulfilling His promise and bringing joy to her heart while removing her grief. The verse emphasizes that this miracle was a sign confirming the truthfulness of Allah's promise, though most people fail to recognize such divine signs and lessons. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir note that this return served multiple purposes: comforting the mother, demonstrating Allah's care for His servants, and validating His word, while simultaneously highlighting human heedlessness regarding clear proofs.
Revelation Context
This ayah is part of the detailed narrative of Prophet Musa's birth and early life in Surah Al-Qasas. The context follows the command to place baby Musa in the basket on the river to save him from Pharaoh's execution orders. The return of Musa to his mother occurred after he was found by Pharaoh's family and brought to the palace, demonstrating how Allah orchestrated events to fulfill His promise to Musa's mother.
Related Hadiths
While no specific hadith directly quotes this verse, Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim contain extensive hadiths about Prophet Musa's life story that complement this narrative. Additionally, the principle of trusting in Allah's promises (tawakkul) is emphasized in numerous hadiths, such as the hadith in Jami' At-Tirmidhi about reliance on Allah.
