Translations

But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and Allāh does not like the wrongdoers.

Transliteration

Wa-ammā alladhīna āmanū wa-'amilū aṣ-ṣāliḥāti fa-yuwaffīhim ujūrahum; wa-Allāhu lā yuḥibbu aẓ-ẓālimīn

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah contrasts the fate of the believers who perform righteous deeds with those who do wrong, establishing that Allah will fully grant the believers their complete reward without diminishment. Classical scholars like Al-Tabari and Ibn Kathir emphasize that 'yuwaffīhim' (will give them in full) indicates the comprehensive nature of Allah's justice—believers receive complete recompense for their faith and good works, while Allah's love is withheld from the oppressors (ẓālimīn), which includes those who reject truth and commit injustice.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in the Medinan period and is part of a broader discussion in Surah Ali 'Imran about the People of the Book and the distinction between believers and disbelievers. It comes after verses discussing those who distort scripture and reject divine signs, establishing the principle that divine justice operates based on both belief and righteous action.
