As guidance and good tidings for the believers
Transliteration
Hudan wa bushra lil-mu'minin
Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah describes the Quran as guidance (huda) and glad tidings (bushra) specifically for the believers. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, while the Quran is a message for all humanity, its benefits of guidance and comfort are fully realized only by those who believe in it and act upon its teachings. Al-Qurtubi emphasizes that the Quran serves as both a practical guide for righteous conduct and a source of spiritual encouragement for those who have faith.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears at the beginning of Surah An-Naml and is part of the introductory verses (Alif-Lam-Sin) that serve as a preface to the surah's themes. The surah, revealed in Mecca, addresses the disbelievers and believers alike, establishing that while the Quran is universal in its message, its transformative power depends on the recipient's willingness to believe and reflect upon its signs.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it' (Sahih Bukhari 5027). Additionally, 'Whoever recites the Quran and believes in it will be granted intercession on the Day of Judgment' (Tirmidhi, with related narrations in other collections).

Key Lesson
The Quran's true value as guidance and comfort is accessed through sincere belief and commitment; modern believers should approach the Quran not merely as a historical text but as a living source of direction and hope that transforms those who genuinely submit to its message.
