Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah commands the believers to have complete faith in Allah, His Messenger Muhammad, the Qur'an revealed to him, and the previous scriptures (Torah and Gospel). It then establishes the six pillars of Islamic belief by warning that whoever disbelieves in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day has gone far astray. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, this ayah synthesizes the fundamental articles of Islamic faith and serves as a comprehensive statement of monotheistic belief.
Revelation Context
This ayah was revealed in Madinah during a period when the Muslim community faced challenges from hypocrites and People of the Book who rejected the Message. It addresses believers directly to reinforce their commitment to the complete Islamic creed and to clearly delineate the boundaries of faith.

Key Lesson
This ayah reminds believers that true faith is holistic and encompasses belief in all of Allah's messengers and scriptures, not selective faith. For modern Muslims, it emphasizes that rejection of any fundamental article of belief constitutes a severe deviation from the straight path.
