Ar-Ra'd (The Thunder) · Ayah 5

۞ وَإِن تَعْجَبْ فَعَجَبٌ قَوْلُهُمْ أَءِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰبًا أَءِنَّا لَفِى خَلْقٍ جَدِيدٍ ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِرَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلْأَغْلَـٰلُ فِىٓ أَعْنَاقِهِمْ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلنَّارِ ۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَـٰلِدُونَ 5

And if you are astonished, [O Muḥammad] - then astonishing is their saying, "When we are dust, will we indeed be [brought] into a new creation?" Those are the ones who have disbelieved in their Lord, and those will have shackles upon their necks, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.

۞ وَإِنwa-inAnd if
تَعْجَبْtaʿjabyou (are) astonished
فَعَجَبٌۭfaʿajabunthen astonishing
قَوْلُهُمْqawluhum(is) their saying
أَءِذَاa-idhāWhen
noun
كُنَّاkunnāwe are
تُرَٰبًاturābandust
أَءِنَّاa-innāwill we
noun
لَفِىlafī(be) indeed, in
خَلْقٍۢkhalqina creation
جَدِيدٍ ۗjadīdinnew
جددj-d-dadjective
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
noun
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones who
noun
كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
بِرَبِّهِمْ ۖbirabbihimin their Lord
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَwa-ulāikaand those
noun
ٱلْأَغْلَـٰلُl-aghlāluthe iron chains
فِىٓ(will be) in
أَعْنَاقِهِمْ ۖaʿnāqihimtheir necks
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَwa-ulāikathose
noun
أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
ٱلنَّارِ ۖl-nāri(of) the Fire
هُمْhumthey
noun
فِيهَاfīhāin it
noun
خَـٰلِدُونَkhālidūna(will) abide forever
