طَاعَةٌ وَقَوْلٌ مَّعْرُوفٌ ۚ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ ٱلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ 21

Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allāh, it would have been better for them.

طَاعَةٌۭṭāʿatun(Is) obedience

وَقَوْلٌۭwaqawlunand a word

مَّعْرُوفٌۭ ۚmaʿrūfunkind

فَإِذَاfa-idhāAnd when

عَزَمَʿazama(is) determined

ٱلْأَمْرُl-amruthe matter

فَلَوْfalawthen if

صَدَقُوا۟ṣadaqūthey had been true

ٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Allah

لَكَانَlakānasurely, it would have been

خَيْرًۭاkhayranbetter

لَّهُمْlahumfor them
