Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah describes the blessings of Paradise, stating that the inhabitants will have whatever they desire therein, and furthermore, Allah promises them 'an increase' (mazeed) beyond what they can imagine or request. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi interpret 'mazeed' (the increase) as referring to the vision of Allah's Face, which is the greatest reward transcending all other pleasures of Paradise. This ayah emphasizes both the fulfillment of desires in Paradise and the sublime reality that the greatest blessing surpasses even the residents' own expectations.

Revelation Context

Surah Qaf is a Meccan surah revealed during the early period of Islam, addressing the reality of the Hereafter and resurrection. This ayah appears in the context of Surah Qaf's emphasis on the certainty of the Day of Judgment and the description of Paradise for the righteous. The surah's broader theme centers on reassuring believers of Allah's knowledge, power over resurrection, and the rewards awaiting the faithful.
