Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah commands the inhabitants of Hell to enter and taste the punishment on the Day of Judgment because of their disbelief and rejection of Allah's signs. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari interpret this as a severe recompense where the disbelievers experience the direct consequences of their kufr (disbelief), emphasizing the justice and certainty of Allah's punishment for those who turned away from guidance.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in the Meccan surah Ya-Sin, which focuses on the themes of the Day of Judgment, resurrection, and the consequences of rejecting the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It comes in a passage describing the confrontation between the blessed (on the right) and the wretched (on the left) on the Day of Judgment.
Related Hadiths
The hadith from Sahih Bukhari where the Prophet (peace be upon him) warned about the punishment of Hell emphasizes that it is prepared for those who disbelieve: 'The Fire will be displayed to the people every night and day.'
