Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread) · Ayah 38

وَٱلسَّارِقُ وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَـٰلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ 38

[As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they earned [i.e., committed] as a deterrent [punishment] from Allāh. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

وَٱلسَّارِقُwal-sāriquAnd (for) the male thief

سرقs-r-qnoun

وَٱلسَّارِقَةُwal-sāriqatuand the female thief

سرقs-r-qnoun

فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟fa-iq'ṭaʿū[then] cut off

قطعq-t-'verb

أَيْدِيَهُمَاaydiyahumātheir hands

يديy-d-ynoun

جَزَآءًۢjazāan(as) a recompense

جزيj-z-ynoun

بِمَاbimāfor what
