Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah refers to the creation of the houris (al-hūr) in Paradise, stating that Allah created them with a unique and perfect creation distinct from earthly creation. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir and Al-Qurtubi interpret this to mean that Allah fashioned these beings with exceptional beauty and qualities specifically for the inhabitants of Paradise, emphasizing the miraculous nature of divine creation and the rewards awaiting the righteous. The phrase 'inshā'ān' (creation/origination) underscores that their existence is entirely from Allah's will and power, not derived from any earthly means.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears in Surah Al-Waqi'ah, a Meccan surah that describes the events of the Day of Judgment and the conditions of the inhabitants of Paradise and Hell. The context is eschatological, depicting the rewards of Paradise to encourage believers toward righteousness and obedience during the earthly life.
