Tafsir (Explanation)
This ayah affirms that Allah granted victory and support to the righteous servants mentioned in the preceding verses (the prophets and their followers), resulting in their triumph over their enemies. Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari explain that this divine assistance (nusrah) is a promise to the believers that Allah's help will ultimately prevail against those who oppose His message. The phrase emphasizes that victory belongs exclusively to those whom Allah supports, reflecting the Quranic principle that worldly success is contingent upon divine favor.
Revelation Context
This ayah appears within Surah As-Saffat's broader context of praising the steadfastness and faith of prophets like Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Elijah. The surah recounts their struggles against their people and their ultimate vindication, serving as an encouragement to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the believers facing persecution in Mecca. The ayah summarizes the recurring pattern of divine support for the truthful against the deniers.
Related Hadiths
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Help is with the patient endurance' (Jami' at-Tirmidhi 4031), highlighting the connection between steadfastness and receiving Allah's victory. Additionally, the hadith 'With hardship comes ease' (Sahih Bukhari 5776) reflects the Quranic theme that Allah's aid follows trials and perseverance.
