Transliteration

Wa mā kāna hādhā al-Qur'ānu an yuftarā min dūni Allāhi wa lākin tasdīqu al-ladhī bayna yadayhi wa tafsīlu al-Kitābi lā rayba fīhi min Rabbi al-'ālamīn

Tafsir (Explanation)

This ayah asserts the divine origin of the Qur'an, declaring it impossible that such a text could be fabricated by anyone other than Allah. According to Ibn Kathir and Al-Tabari, the Qur'an serves as confirmation of previous scriptures (Torah and Injīl) and provides detailed clarification of divine laws and guidance with absolute certainty. The phrase 'from the Lord of the Worlds' emphasizes that only Allah possesses the knowledge, wisdom, and authority to produce such a comprehensive and coherent revelation.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears in Surah Yunus, a Meccan chapter addressing the disbelievers' rejection and their accusations that the Prophet Muhammad fabricated the Qur'an. The verse directly refutes these claims by establishing the Qur'an's divine authenticity and its consistent confirmation of previous divine messages, providing context for the broader Meccan discourse on revelation.

Additionally, in Sunan At-Tirmidhi, the Prophet ﷺ emphasized that the Qur'an is a healing and mercy, reflecting its comprehensive and detailed guidance mentioned in this ayah.
