And Allāh will establish the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it."

Transliteration

Wa yuhiqqullahu al-haqqa bi-kalimatihi wa law kariha al-mujrimun

Tafsir (Explanation)

Allah establishes the truth through His word and will manifest it completely, regardless of the criminals' and disbelievers' hatred and opposition. This ayah, occurring in the context of Prophet Musa's confrontation with Pharaoh's sorcerers, asserts that divine truth is ultimately victorious and cannot be suppressed by human resistance or rejection. Classical scholars like Ibn Kathir emphasize that Allah's word encompasses both His revealed scriptures and His divine decrees, and His truth will inevitably prevail over falsehood, even if the wrongdoers despise this outcome.

Revelation Context

This ayah appears within Surah Yunus (a Meccan surah) in the narrative of Prophet Musa confronting Pharaoh and his magicians. The context directly follows the account of the miraculous staff that consumed the magicians' illusions, demonstrating Allah's supremacy over false claims and sorcery. It reassures the Prophet Muhammad and the believers that truth will ultimately triumph despite Meccan opposition.

Related Hadiths

The hadith in Sahih Muslim (2889) states: 'Verily, Allah does not look at your bodies or wealth, but He looks at your hearts and deeds.' This relates thematically to how Allah's truth penetrates hearts and is established through sincere actions. Additionally, the hadith on the 'word that endures' (al-kalimah al-tayyibah) in Surah Ibrahim (14:24) is conceptually related to how Allah's word becomes established.
