At-Tawbah (The Repentance) · Ayah 23

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ ءَابَآءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ إِنِ ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ ٱلْكُفْرَ عَلَى ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ 23

O you who have believed, do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies if they have preferred disbelief over belief. And whoever does so among you - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
noun
ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
لَا(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟tattakhidhūtake
ءَابَآءَكُمْābāakumyour fathers
وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْwa-ikh'wānakumand your brothers
أَوْلِيَآءَawliyāa(as) allies
إِنِiniif
ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟is'taḥabbūthey prefer
ٱلْكُفْرَl-kuf'ra[the] disbelief
عَلَىʿalāover
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚl-īmāni[the] belief
وَمَنwamanAnd whoever

يَتَوَلَّهُمyatawallahumtakes them as allies
مِّنكُمْminkumamong you
noun
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
noun
هُمُhumu[they]
noun
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers
