Surah Al-Mursalat, meaning "The Emissaries" or "Those Sent Forth," is the 77th chapter of the Quran and consists of 50 verses revealed in Mecca during the early period of Prophet Muhammad's mission. The surah takes its name from the opening verse, which refers to winds or angels sent forth in succession. As a Meccan surah, it was revealed at a time when the Prophet was facing intense opposition from the Quraysh, who rejected the fundamental doctrines of monotheism, prophethood, and especially the resurrection and the Day of Judgment.
